Old Fourth Ward

Old Fourth Ward Project

Once an eyesore for the locals and visitors alike the massive retention pond on North Ave was transformed into an oasis. The first ever project of the Atlanta Beltway in the Old Fourth Ward. In addition to the granite pavers, the park incorporates diverse hardscape materials emblematic of its layered, sustainable design: exposed aggregate concrete pavers from Hanover’s Prest Paver line; custom-blend glass aggregate pavers; and battered rock curbs all contributing to the park’s visual richness and functionality. Together, these materials provide both practical resilience and sculptural elegance, blending seamlessly with the park’s landscape architecture to create spaces that are as beautiful as they are built to last. In the West Plaza, the paving features a refined, light-toned stone that establishes a serene, terraced gathering space. Interspersed within this plaza are large, custom-shaped granite quarry stones — six of twenty-six thoughtfully designed to be interactive, with four integrated into the lowest wall as informal seating.
